Belgian artist Chloé Op de Beeck builds an oeuvre consisting of video and photographic works, of collecting and creating minimalistic objects, and of the conceiving of installations that translate these elements into a choreographic experience within the space. Her works reflect a deep affection and tactile curiosity for the world, as if discovering it for the first time.

For Ensembles Op de Beeck filmed inside the house Atelier Arthur Rogiers. Subsequently she filmed the house where she grew up - which has been a longtime source of inspiration - and interviewed the two women living in both houses. With this work she wants to further elaborate on the meaning and connotation of objects, objects and time, decoration, organisation of space and home.

Human beings and objects are bound together in a collusion in which the objects take on a certain density, an emotional value - what might be called a ‘presence’. What gives the houses of our childhood such depth and resonance in memory is clearly this complex structure of interiority, and the objects within it serve for us as boundary markers of the symbolic configuration known as home.
(Jean Baudrillard, The system of objects)

Chloé Op de Beeck studied photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent and Film Studies at the University of Antwerp. In 2017 & 2018 she was a resident at the HISK. Her work was shown in recent exhibitions in SMAK, Ghent; Shuttle 19, Paris; Cabane B, Bern; IKOB, Eupen and De Garage, Mechelen. Upcoming exhibitions are Artefact in STUK, Leuven and Objet Trouvé, Brugge. Op de Beeck lives and works in Antwerp.
